Terrorism
Terrorism is another major economic issue facing Europe for quite a few reasons. The first reason why terrorism will negatively impact the economy is through tourism. Some Northern European countries rely on tourism for a substantial part of their economy. With the recent terrorist attacks in some European countries, tourists from around the world may feel anxious or even scared to travel into some Northern European countries, resulting in a decline in revenue. Terrorism may also affect the economy as well because now new businesses may feel unsure about moving into the area.
Unemployment
Though unemployment may not be a massive issue facing Northern European nations, it would be impossible to say that it does not exist. For example, In Lithuania the unemployment rate has risen to around 8.6%. This is quite high compared to many other European Nations. Also, the United Kingdom has an unemployment rate of 4.8% which is just 0.1% lower than the United States unemployment rate which currently sits at 4.9% according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. These high unemployment rates mean that some Northern European countries are suffering a bit because of their economies.
